India-Nepal: Action Plan for Agricultural Cooperation

On 29th December 2025, India and Nepal agreed to formulate and implement a biennial action plan within three months to translate bilateral agreements on agriculture into measurable outcomes.

Key Points

Joint Working Group Meeting: The decision was taken at the 9th meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Agriculture Working Group, held in Kathmandu.
Biennial Action Plan: Both countries agreed to prepare and implement a time-bound biennial action plan to operationalise existing agricultural cooperation agreements.
Research & Academic Cooperation: Agreement to strengthen collaboration between agricultural universities and research institutions, including Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Nepal Agricultural Research Council, through separate action plans.
Livestock, Poultry & Fisheries: Cooperation to be enhanced in livestock, poultry, and fisheries sectors under a separate Memorandum of Understanding.
