Mukhya Mantrir Eti Koli Duti Paat Scheme

On 26th January 2026, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Mukhya Mantrir ‘Eti Koli Duti Paat’ scheme at Doomdooma in Tinsukia district, aimed at welfare of tea garden workers.
- Over ₹300 crore will be disbursed as one-time financial assistance of ₹5,000 each to more than 6 lakh permanent and casual tea workers across 836 tea gardens in 27 districts.
- The scheme covers workers from 73 Assembly constituencies, marking fulfillment of a key election promise of the Assam government.
- The Chief Minister also inaugurated mobile crèches and mobile toilet services to improve childcare, health, dignity and workplace safety in tea gardens.
- Sarma highlighted the 200-year legacy of Assam’s tea industry and the critical contribution of tea tribes and indigenous communities to the state’s economy and culture.
- The state announced land rights (pattas) for tea garden workers living in labour lines, with applications starting in early February.
- Tea tribes and indigenous communities have been given 3% reservation in Grade III and IV government jobs under OBC category.
