On 26th March 2026, India appointed Periasamy Kumaran as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. He is a 1992-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer.

  • Currently serving as Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs.
  • He will succeed the outgoing envoy in London.
  • Kumaran brings extensive diplomatic experience.
  • He previously served as Ambassador to Singapore and Qatar.
  • He has also held key postings in Cairo, Tripoli and Brussels.
  • He was Deputy High Commissioner in Colombo (2011-2014).
