On 30th March 2026, the National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation released the Energy Statistics India 2026 report, providing a comprehensive overview of India’s energy sector.

- Efficiency Improvements: Transmission & distribution losses reduced from ~22% to 17%.

- Coal remains dominant (5,52,315 KToE in 2024-25).
- Oil and gas consumption also rising.
- Investment Trends: Credit flow to energy sector increased from ₹1,688 crore (2021) to ₹10,325 crore (2025).
