NTPC, EDF Sign MoU for Nuclear Power Projects

On 8th April 2026, NTPC Limited signed a non-binding MoU with Électricité de France (EDF) to explore collaboration in developing nuclear power projects in India.
- The MoU focuses on assessing feasibility, technology collaboration, and large-scale deployment of nuclear energy projects.
- It includes exploring EDF’s EPR (European Pressurised Reactor) technology and its suitability for Indian conditions.
- The agreement also covers localisation, economic viability, tariff structures, and identification of potential project sites.
- Both companies will collaborate on skill development and human resource training in nuclear energy.
- The initiative aligns with India’s goal of expanding clean, reliable energy and ensuring long-term energy security.
- NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, currently operates more than 89 GW of installed capacity, with another 32 GW under construction.
- The company aims to achieve 149 GW capacity by 2032, including 60 GW from renewable sources.
