19 January: NDRF Raising Day

• National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) celebrates its Raising Day every year on January 19, since it came into existence on January 19, 2006. This year it was the 17^th observation.
• NDRF is a specialized force under the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), constituted under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
• NDRF currently consists of 15 battalions from the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Assam Rifles.
