HAL and Safran Aircraft Engines Sign MoU for Engine Forging

On 26^th October, 2023, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Safran Aircraft Engines have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bolster industrial collaboration in the manufacturing of components for commercial engines.

Key Points

• Strengthening a Prolific Partnership: Under this agreement, HAL will undertake the production of LEAP engine forgings for the Airbus A320 Neo and Boeing 737 Max at its Foundry and Forge facility in Bengaluru.
• Chairman and Managing Director (Additional Charge) of HAL, emphasized the enduring partnership between HAL and Safran Aircraft Engines, highlighting their joint efforts in developing the 'Shakti' helicopter engine and the upcoming co-design and production of the next-generation IMRH engine.
• Building an Aero-Engine Ecosystem in India: Safran Aircraft Engines has already established three production facilities in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, with an additional facility in Goa set to become operational by 2025.
• This endeavour aligns seamlessly with their long-term vision of fostering a comprehensive aero-engine ecosystem in India.
