India and Italy Sign Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement

Recently, India’s External Affairs Minister, following a comprehensive meeting with his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani, has officially inked the Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement between India and Italy.
- This agreement aims to facilitate the smooth movement of workers, students, and professionals between the two nations.

- Strategic Partnership: Both ministers discussed deepening their strategic partnership, emphasizing the potential for collaboration in areas such as agro-tech, innovation, space, defense, and the digital domain.
 - Wide-Ranging Discussions: Detailed discussions covered various international issues, including the situation in West Asia, the conflict in Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific landscape.
 - Agreement Signing: Following their talks, the Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement and the Cultural Exchange Programme were officially signed between the two countries.
 - Indian Diaspora in Italy: Italy is home to a significant Indian diaspora, making it the third-largest in Europe, after the UK and the Netherlands.
 - Most of the Indian expatriates in Italy are first-generation immigrants employed in sectors like agriculture, dairy farming, the leather industry, construction, and the service sector.
 - This agreement aims to enhance mobility for this community and further strengthen bilateral ties.
