DRDO Conducts Successful Flight-Test of New Generation Akash Surface to Air Missile

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) achieved success with the flight-test of the New Generation Akash Surface to Air Missile (SAM) on January 12, from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, Odisha.

• Target Intercepted: The missile, equipped with an indigenously developed radio frequency seeker, launcher, multi-function radar, and command, control & communication system, intercepted and successfully destroyed a high-speed unmanned aerial target flying at very low altitude.
• Validation of Weapon System: The test validated the complete functioning of the weapon system, showcasing the efficiency of the integrated missile technology.
• User Trials Next: The success of the flight test opens the path for upcoming user trials, demonstrating the readiness of the Akash-NG system for deployment.
