Drone Didi Yojana Pilot Projects
- 13 May 2024
On 10th May 2024, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) signed an MoU with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd for two Pilot Projects under the Drone Didi Yojana.
- The scheme aims to train 15,000 women to operate drones for agricultural purposes, creating new livelihood opportunities in rural areas.
- Two centres of NSTI in Hyderabad and Noida have been selected for the Pilot Projects, aiming to upskill women in agriculture.
- The initiative aligns with MSDE's vision to equip women with skills for nation-building and represents the beginning of collaborative projects with Mahindra.
- The Pilot Projects will skill 500 women in exclusive batches of 20 each, with a curriculum approved by DGCA and delivered by RPTO instructors.
- NSTIs will provide infrastructure, while Mahindra Group will support with simulation machinery, trainers, and operating costs.
- The outcomes will inform the scaling up of the Drone Didi Yojana, with Mahindra planning to roll out drone training at its skilling centres in Telangana and Maharashtra.
