Prof. Urbasi Sinha Wins Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar

On 8th August, 2024, Professor Urbasi Sinha from the Raman Research Institute has been honored with the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2024 in the Vigyan Yuva (Physics) category.
- Prof. Urbasi Sinha, who leads the Quantum Information and Computing (QuIC) lab at Raman Research Institute, received the RVP Vigyan Yuva (Physics) award.
- She is one of 18 scientists recognized in this category for her contributions to quantum physics.
- Her research focuses on quantum fundamentals and technologies, particularly in quantum communication, computing, and optics.
- Under her leadership, QuIC lab pioneered the development and application of heralded and entangled photon sources.
- Prof. Sinha was part of a team that created a method for generating truly random numbers to enhance encryption in quantum communications.
- In addition, Prof. Sinha is a Simon’s Emmy Noether Fellow at the Perimeter Institute in Canada and was recently appointed as the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Photonic Quantum Science and Technologies.
