‘Fit India Cycling Tuesdays’ Initiative

On 17th December 2024, Union Sports Minister launched the ‘Fit India Cycling Tuesdays’ initiative in New Delhi to promote health awareness and environmental sustainability.
- The initiative is a part of the Fit India Movement, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019 to encourage fitness among citizens.
 - Speaking at the launch, Union Minister stressed the need for a healthy society as the foundation of a prosperous and developed nation.
 - The initiative aims to improve the Air Quality Index (AQI) by promoting cycling as a sustainable, eco-friendly mode of transportation.
 - The minister urged citizens to dedicate at least one hour daily to physical activities, such as cycling, to improve their fitness and well-being.
 - ‘Fit India Cycling Tuesdays’ was flagged off at nearly 1,000 venues across the country, signaling a nationwide participation to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
 - This program emphasizes raising public awareness about both personal health benefits and environmental conservation through reduced pollution.
