NHAI’s Pilot Project for Cattle Shelters along NHs

In December 2024, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) initiated a pilot project to establish cattle shelters along National Highways to enhance road safety and minimize animal-related accidents.

- Objective of the Initiative: Improve commuter safety by reducing stray cattle presence on highways.
 - Strategic Shelter Locations: Shelters, ranging from 0.21 to 2.29 hectares, will be set up at key stretches, including:
- UP and Haryana Border to the Rohna section of NH-334B (Kharkhoda Bypass).
 - Bhiwani-Hansi section of NH-148B (Hansi Bypass).
 - Kiratpur-Ner Chowk section of NH-21.
 - Dangiyawas to Jajiwal section of the Jodhpur Ring Road on NH-112.
 
 - Enhanced Road Safety: The initiative aims to create safer travel experiences for commuters by reducing accidents caused by stray cattle on highways.
