India and Japan Pledge Stronger Defence Ties

On 5th May 2025, Defence Minister met his Japanese counterpart General Nakatani in New Delhi to strengthen defence ties and reaffirm commitment to regional peace and security.

- Condemnation of Terrorism: Both Ministers strongly condemned terrorism in all forms and called for unified global action.
- Strengthening Strategic Ties: The leaders reviewed defence and security cooperation under the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership and agreed to deepen bilateral relations.
- Expanded Defence Engagements: They welcomed the increasing frequency and scope of defence exercises and pledged to enhance complexity in future engagements.
- Maritime Cooperation: The Ministers agreed to add new dimensions to the already robust maritime cooperation between the two navies.
- Industry Collaboration: India proposed defence industrial cooperation in tank and aero engines, MRO operations, AI, automation, cyber, and space domains.
