On 10th June 2025, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force will fly to the International Space Station as part of NASA’s Axiom-4 mission.

  • The mission is scheduled to launch on 10th June under the coordination of NASA and private space company Axiom Space.
  • Shukla received extensive astronaut training at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Russia, followed by advanced instruction at ISRO’s Bengaluru facility.
  • During the mission, he will conduct specialized experiments focused on food science and nutrition in a space environment.
  • A key experiment involves testing the effects of microgravity and space radiation on edible microalgae, developed by India’s Department of Biotechnology.
  • The food experiments are expected to provide crucial data for future long-duration space missions, including India’s own human spaceflight program.
