Exercise KHAAN QUEST 2025 in Mongolia

On 11th June 2025, an Indian Army contingent arrived in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to participate in the 22nd edition of the Multinational Military Exercise KHAAN QUEST, scheduled from 14th to 28th June 2025.
- The Indian Army team comprises 40 personnel, mainly from a battalion of the Kumaon Regiment, along with troops from other Arms and Services. One woman officer and two women soldiers are also part of the team.
- KHAAN QUEST began in 2003 as a bilateral drill between the United States and Mongolia, and evolved into a multinational peacekeeping exercise in 2006.
- The exercise aims to enhance interoperability and readiness for United Nations peace support missions under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.
- Tactical drills include establishment of static and mobile checkpoints, cordon and search operations, civilian evacuation from hostile areas, counter-IED techniques, combat first aid, and casualty evacuation.
