Indian PM’s Visit to Ghana

On 2nd July 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ghana, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in over three decades. He held wide-ranging talks with President Dr. John Dramani Mahama at Jubilee House in Accra.

- Comprehensive Partnership: Both nations agreed to elevate bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Partnership covering agriculture, education, defence, digital payments, and healthcare.
- Skill Development Centre: India will establish a Skill Development Centre in Ghana to empower youth and support the ‘Feed Ghana’ initiative.
- Scholarships Doubled: PM Modi announced a doubling of ITEC and ICCR scholarships for Ghanaian students to study in India.
- Healthcare Collaboration: India will assist Ghana by setting up Jan Aushadhi Kendras for affordable medicines and support vaccine production.
- Trade and Digital Ties: India aims to double bilateral trade within five years and introduce Bharat UPI to enhance digital financial connectivity.
- Defence and Security: Cooperation will expand in military training, cyber security, maritime safety, and defence supplies under the motto ‘Security through Solidarity’.
- Cultural & Strategic MoUs: Four MoUs were signed covering Culture, Standards, Ayurveda and Traditional Medicine, and a Joint Commission Mechanism.
- Shared Global Vision: Both leaders reiterated commitment to democratic values, UN reforms, South-South cooperation, and sustainable development.
