SPREE 2025 Launched to Expand ESI Coverage
- 04 Jul 2025
On 2nd July, 2025, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) launched SPREE 2025, a new registration scheme aimed at expanding social security access for unregistered employers and workers.
- SPREE 2025, short for Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees, will be in effect from July 1 to December 31, 2025, offering a one-time compliance window.
- It allows employers—including those with contractual and temporary staff—to register under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme without facing penalties or retrospective inspections.
- Registration under SPREE 2025 can be completed digitally via the ESIC portal, the Shram Suvidha portal, or the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) portal.
- Once registered, employers will not be liable for contributions or benefits for any period prior to the declared date of registration, thus ensuring ease of entry.
- The initiative aims to encourage voluntary compliance by removing legal, financial, and procedural barriers that often deter employers in the informal sector.
