India and Singapore Agree on Forward-Looking Roadmap

From September 2–4, 2025, Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong paid an official visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Key Points
- Economic Cooperation: Plans to deepen trade, review CECA and AITIGA, support India’s semiconductor industry, jointly develop industrial parks, enhance capital market connectivity, and promote space sector collaboration.
- Skills Development: Establishment of a National Centre of Excellence in Chennai for advanced manufacturing, TVET, workforce reskilling, and student-faculty exchange programmes.
- Digitalisation: Strengthening fintech, digital finance, cybersecurity, and start-up collaborations; expanding UPI-PayNow linkage; promoting TradeTrust for e-Bills of Lading; and exploring AI in agriculture, healthcare, and education.
- Sustainability: Cooperation in green hydrogen, urban water management, civil nuclear projects, climate change initiatives, food security, and participation in the International Solar Alliance.
- Connectivity: Enhancing maritime and aviation links, developing an India-Singapore Green and Digital Shipping Corridor, promoting sustainable aviation fuel, and sharing expertise in airport development and aerospace MRO.
- Healthcare and Medicine: Focus on digital health, disease surveillance, maternal and child health, regulatory facilitation, nursing skill development, and collaborative R&D in medical technologies.
- People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges: Student and professional exchanges, parliamentary engagement, public service training, think tank collaboration, and cultural promotion initiatives.
- Defence and Security Cooperation: Continuing joint exercises, maritime security, defence technology collaboration, counter-terrorism, and mutual legal assistance in criminal investigations.
