India Bids to Host Coast Guard Summit 2027

On 12th September 2025, India pitched to host the next edition of the Coast Guard Global Summit in 2027, reiterating its commitment to global maritime governance and enhancing cooperation for safer and cleaner seas.
- India made its proposal during the 4th Coast Guard Global Summit, which was held in Rome on 11–12 September 2025 and attended by delegates from 115 countries and international organisations.
- The discussions at the summit centred on enhancing maritime safety, strengthening environmental protection, improving responses to marine pollution incidents and disasters, and countering transnational maritime crimes.
- Technology-driven solutions, capacity building, and greater international collaboration were identified as crucial for strengthening global maritime security and governance.
- The summit emphasised the role of coast guards worldwide as “guardians at sea,” entrusted with responsibilities such as marine pollution response, maritime search and rescue, and enforcement of maritime law.
