Raj Kumar Goyal Appointed CIC

On 15 December 2025, former Indian Administrative Service officer Raj Kumar Goyal was sworn in as the Chief Information Commissioner by the President of India.
- The appointment followed the recommendation of a three-member selection committee headed by Narendra Modi, which finalized his name last week.
- Mr. Goyal is a retired 1990-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Arunachal Pradesh–Goa–Mizoram–Union Territories cadre with extensive administrative experience at both the Centre and state levels.
- He superannuated on August 31 after serving as Secretary in the Department of Justice under the Ministry of Law and Justice.
- During his career, he also held the post of Secretary (Border Management) in the Ministry of Home Affairs and served in several key roles in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir.
