Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II

On 14th December 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the release of a commemorative postal stamp honouring Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II.

The commemorative stamp was released by Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan in honour of Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II, also known as Suvaran Maran.
Prime Minister expressed his delight over the initiative, describing it as a meaningful tribute to a historically significant ruler.
He highlighted that Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II was a formidable administrator with exceptional vision, foresight, and strategic brilliance.
The Prime Minister noted the Emperor’s strong commitment to justice, which defined his governance and leadership style.
He also underlined the Emperor’s role as a great patron of Tamil culture, contributing significantly to its preservation and growth.
