India, Oman Deepen Cooperation Across Sectors

On 18th December 2025, India and Oman agreed to significantly expand bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors following the visit of Prime Minister to the Sultanate of Oman.
Key Points
- Economic Partnership Push: India and Oman signed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) aimed at deepening economic and commercial integration and boosting bilateral trade.
- Trade and Investment Impact: The CEPA is expected to reduce trade barriers, create a stable and predictable business framework, enhance investment flows, generate employment and support economic growth in both countries.
- Maritime Heritage Cooperation: The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Heritage and Museums to promote collaboration in maritime history, research and cultural exchange.
- Lothal Maritime Complex Linkage: The maritime heritage MoU includes cooperation with India’s National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal through artefact exchange, joint exhibitions, research initiatives and capacity-building programmes.
- Agriculture and Allied Sectors: An MoU was signed in agriculture and allied areas, covering animal husbandry and fisheries, with cooperation planned in agricultural science, horticulture, integrated farming systems and micro-irrigation.
- Higher Education Collaboration: India and Oman signed an MoU on higher education to promote exchanges of faculty, researchers and scholars, and to undertake joint applied research in areas of mutual interest.
- Millet and Agri-Food Innovation: Both countries adopted an Executive Programme on millet cultivation and agri-food innovation, combining India’s scientific expertise with Oman’s favourable agro-climatic conditions.
- Maritime Security Vision: A Joint Vision Document on Maritime Cooperation was adopted, reaffirming commitment to collaboration in regional maritime security, the blue economy and sustainable use of ocean resources.
