NCW Launches SHAKTI Scholars

On 22nd December 2025, the National Commission for Women (NCW) launched the ‘SHAKTI Scholars: NCW Young Research Fellowship’, inviting applications from students and young researchers for policy-oriented research on women-related issues across India.

Key Points

Objective: To promote multidisciplinary, policy-oriented research addressing critical concerns related to women in India.
Research Areas Covered:
- Women’s safety and dignity
- Gender-based violence
- Legal rights and access to justice
- Cyber safety
- Implementation of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) framework
- Women’s leadership and political participation and more
Eligibility Criteria:
- Indian citizens aged 21 to 30 years
- Minimum qualification: Graduation from a recognised institution
- Preference for candidates pursuing or having completed post-graduation or higher research
- Independent researchers with proven research capacity are also eligible
Fellowship Support:
- Research grant: ₹1 lakh
- Duration: Six months
- Funds to be released in phases based on research progress
