On 16th January 2026, President Droupadi Murmu appointed Praveen Vashista as Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission.

  • The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said that Mr Vashista took the oath of office before the Central Vigilance Commissioner.
  • Mr Vashista brings over three decades of experience in law enforcement, investigation and internal security.
  • He is a 1991-batch Indian Police Service officer of the Bihar cadre.
  • During his central deputation, he held key positions in the Ministry of Home Affairs, including Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary and Special Secretary, handling matters related to Internal Security.
