Exercise KHANJAR

On 4th February 2026, the 13th edition of the joint military Exercise KHANJAR commenced at Misamari in Sonitpur district of Assam, marking another milestone in defence cooperation between India and Kyrgyzstan.
- The 14-day exercise aims to enhance interoperability between the Special Forces of both countries, with a focus on urban warfare and counter-terrorism operations under a United Nations mandate.
- India is represented by its elite Parachute Regiment, while Kyrgyzstan is participating with its Scorpion Brigade.
- Troops will practice advanced combat skills, including sniping, room intervention, building clearance, mountain craft, and specialised counter-terrorism drills.
- Exercise KHANJAR is conducted annually since 2011, with venues alternating between the two countries, reflecting deepening bilateral defence ties.
- The 12th edition, held in March 2025 in Kyrgyzstan, included high-altitude operations, intensive counter-terror drills, and cultural exchanges to strengthen camaraderie.
