Solarisation of District Magistrate Offices

On 27th February 2026, Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy inaugurated a 15-kilowatt grid-connected rooftop solar plant at the Gomati District Magistrate’s office in Udaipur, Tripura.
- The initiative aims to cover all 8 District Magistrate offices with rooftop solar installations.
- The project is implemented under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s “Solar Sankalp” initiative.
- Execution has been entrusted to the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL).
- Gomati is the first district where the project has been commissioned.
- A total rooftop solar capacity of 304 kW will be installed across 8 DM offices.
- The estimated project cost is ₹2.43 crore.
- Planned capacities include: 49 kW (Sepahijala), 35 kW (South Tripura), 90 kW (North Tripura), 15 kW (Khowai), 22 kW (Unakoti), 25 kW (Dhalai), and 53 kW (West Tripura).
- The systems will meet a substantial share of office energy requirements through renewable power.
- The grid-connected model enables on-site consumption and exports surplus electricity via net metering.
- The initiative aligns with the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, encouraging rooftop solar adoption among households.
