India-Seychelles Joint Military Exercise: Lamitiye 2026

On 9th March 2026, the 11th edition of the India-Seychelles joint military exercise “Lamitiye 2026” began in Seychelles.

  • The exercise is being conducted from 9th March to 20th March 2026.
  • It is hosted at the Seychelles Defence Academy.
  • “Lamitiye” means “friendship” in the Creole language.
  • The exercise is a biennial military training programme held since 2001.
  • The Indian Armed Forces contingent arrived in Seychelles for the exercise.
  • The Indian contingent includes personnel from the Assam Regiment.
  • The Indian Navy is represented by INS Trikand during the exercise.
  • The Indian Air Force is participating with a C-130 aircraft.
  • The exercise includes participation from all three Indian Armed Forces services.
  • Troops will jointly train in tactical drills in semi-urban environments.
  • The exercise focuses on neutralising potential threats in such environments.
  • Field training exercises, combat discussions and demonstrations are planned.
