International Conference on Spacecraft Mission Operations

On 8th April 2026, the second edition of the International Conference on Spacecraft Mission Operations (SMOPS-2026) inaugurated in Bengaluru, bringing together global space agencies, scientists, and industry leaders.
- The conference is jointly organised by Indian Space Research Organisation, Astronautical Society of India, and International Academy of Astronautics.
- The theme is “Innovative Operations for Smart and Sustainable Space Mission Management - Next Generation.”
- Key focus areas include AI-driven automation, mission design, large satellite constellations, robotics, cybersecurity, and interplanetary exploration.
- The event features 120+ oral and 88 poster presentations, along with participation from global agencies like NASA, European Space Agency, and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
- Discussions emphasise international collaboration to address challenges such as space traffic, complex missions, and emerging space economy trends.
- The conference is led by ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network, known for missions like Mangalyaan, Chandrayaan-3, and Aditya-L1.
