UIDAI Onboards 100 Aadhaar Offline Verifiers

On 20th April 2026, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said that the Unique Identification Authority of India had onboarded 100 entities as Offline Verification Seeking Entities within three months of launching Aadhaar-based offline verification.

  • The initiative supports secure, consent-based, and paperless identity verification.
  • The onboarded entities include government departments, fintech firms, educational bodies, and verification agencies.
  • Aadhaar holders can share limited identity data using QR codes and digitally signed documents.
  • Unique Identification Authority of India is a statutory authority established under the Aadhaar Act 2016.
  • It was set up on 12 July 2016 by the Government of India.
  • It functions under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
  • The Aadhaar Act was amended through the Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Act, 2019.
