DRDO Unveils Advanced Armoured Platforms

On 25th April 2026, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) unveiled two advanced armoured platforms (tracked and wheeled variants) at Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (VRDE), Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra.

  • Crewless Turret System: Both platforms are equipped with an indigenously developed 30 mm crewless turret integrated with a 7.62 mm PKT gun and Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) launch capability.
  • High Mobility Features: Powered by high-performance engines with automatic transmission, the vehicles offer high power-to-weight ratio, superior speed, gradient climbing, and obstacle-negotiating capability.
  • Enhanced Protection: The platforms feature STANAG (NATO Standardisation Agreement) Level 4 and Level 5 modular blast and ballistic protection for improved battlefield survivability.
  • Amphibious Capability: Hydro-jet integration enables better water obstacle crossing, increasing operational flexibility across diverse terrains.
  • Indigenous Content: Current indigenous content stands at 65%, with DRDO targeting 90% to boost self-reliance under India’s defence manufacturing push.
