India-Sri Lanka Conduct IN-SLN DIVEX 2026

On 28th April 2026, India and Sri Lanka concluded the fourth edition of the bilateral diving exercise IN-SLN DIVEX 2026 in Colombo.

  • The exercise was held from April 21-28 to strengthen maritime cooperation and underwater operational coordination.
  • The Indian Navy participated with INS Nireekshak, alongside Sri Lanka Navy diving teams.
  • The drill focused on deep-sea diving, mixed gas diving, and underwater search, rescue, and salvage operations.
  • Joint teams successfully conducted dives beyond 55 metres, enhancing interoperability in complex underwater missions.
  • Divers also explored World War-era shipwrecks such as SS Worcester and SS Perseus off Colombo.
  • The exercise included humanitarian and community-building activities like beach clean-ups, sports, and yoga sessions.
  • India also handed over BHISM cubes under the Aarogya Maitri initiative to support Sri Lanka’s disaster and medical preparedness.
  • The exercise reflects both nations’ commitment to maritime security, regional stability, and cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region.
