Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan Appointed Next Navy Chief

On 9th May 2026, the Government of India appointed Krishna Swaminathan as the next Chief of the Naval Staff.
- He is currently serving as Western Naval Command Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C).
- Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, the present Navy Chief, will retire from service on May 31, 2026.
- Prior to his current role, Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan served as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff at Naval Headquarters.
- After promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral, he also held key appointments including Chief of Staff of the Western Naval Command, Controller of Personnel Services and Chief of Personnel at Naval Headquarters.
- He has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal for distinguished service.
