RBI and ECB Sign MoU

On 10th May 2026, the Reserve Bank of India and the European Central Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the field of central banking.

  • The MoU updates the earlier agreement signed between the two central banks in 2015.
  • It establishes a framework for regular exchange of information, policy dialogue and technical cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
  • The renewed arrangement is expected to strengthen institutional engagement and collaboration on central banking practices and financial sector developments between India and the Eurozone.
  • The Reserve Bank of India is India’s central banking institution responsible for monetary policy, currency issuance and financial stability.
  • The European Central Bank manages monetary policy for the Eurozone and works to maintain price stability across member countries using the euro currency.
