FAO’s 2026 Agricola Medal

On 20th May 2026, PM Narendra Modi was conferred the 2026 Agricola Medal by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) at its headquarters in Rome.
- The award was presented by Qu Dongyu in recognition of PM Modi’s leadership in advancing food security, sustainable agriculture and rural development.
- Prime Minister Modi dedicated the honour to Indian farmers and the country’s agricultural scientific community for their contribution towards food security and nutrition.
- PM Modi described agriculture as a sacred bond between Mother Earth and the people of India and highlighted the growing role of science and innovation in Indian farming.
- The Prime Minister also highlighted the use of Digital Public Infrastructure, artificial intelligence-based advisory systems, drones, remote sensing and sensor-based technologies
