FAO’s 2026 Agricola Medal

On 20th May 2026, PM Narendra Modi was conferred the 2026 Agricola Medal by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) at its headquarters in Rome.

The award was presented by Qu Dongyu in recognition of PM Modi’s leadership in advancing food security, sustainable agriculture and rural development.
Prime Minister Modi dedicated the honour to Indian farmers and the country’s agricultural scientific community for their contribution towards food security and nutrition.
PM Modi described agriculture as a sacred bond between Mother Earth and the people of India and highlighted the growing role of science and innovation in Indian farming.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the use of Digital Public Infrastructure, artificial intelligence-based advisory systems, drones, remote sensing and sensor-based technologies
