Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0

On 10th June 2026, the Central Government signed reform-linked Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Bihar and Manipur under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0 to strengthen sustainable and community-driven rural drinking water supply systems.

Objective of the MoUs: To promote a Gram Panchayat-led, service-based and community-centred model of rural water governance for ensuring regular access to safe drinking water.
Focus of JJM 2.0: The mission aims to sustain rural water infrastructure and ensure long-term delivery of drinking water services.
