UK PM Keir Starmer Announces Resignation

On 22nd June 2026, United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced his resignation in a televised address from 10 Downing Street, London, and will continue as caretaker Prime Minister until a new leader is elected.

• He assumed office on 5th July 2024 and will remain caretaker Prime Minister until the appointment of a successor.
• Starmer became the sixth UK Prime Minister to resign without completing a full term since Brexit (the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union).
