Haldia Seaport Designated as Immigration Post

On 22nd June 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) designated Haldia Seaport in West Bengal as an Immigration Post, making it the 41st seaport immigration post along India's coastline.

  • The designation will enable immigration clearance facilities for foreign nationals and Indian citizens travelling through the port.
  • Immigration Posts are notified entry and exit points established under the Immigration Act, 1983, and are administered by the Bureau of Immigration under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • The designation is expected to facilitate international passenger movement, strengthen maritime connectivity, and support trade and port-related activities.
