DAC Approves ₹52,000-Crore Capital Acquisition Proposals

On 3rd July 2026, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for defence acquisition proposals worth ₹52,000 crore to strengthen the combat readiness of the Indian Armed Forces.

  • For the Indian Army, the DAC approved the procurement of the AKASH TARANG Anti-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Electronic Warfare System to provide effective protection against hostile drones.
  • The Council also approved the procurement of Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile Systems (MPATGM), Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) Weapon Systems, Very Short Range Air Defence Systems (VSHORADS), Active Protection Systems (APS) for tanks, and Jet-Based Kamikaze Drone Systems.
  • The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) is the highest decision-making body of the Ministry of Defence for approving acquisition proposals for the Indian Armed Forces.
