On 14th July 2026, the Union Government approved over ₹8,500 crore for rural development in West Bengal during a high-level review meeting chaired by Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister.

  • With the State Government's contribution, over ₹12,000 crore will be spent through Panchayats by March 2027.
  • The Centre proposed increasing rural employment from 100 days to 125 days under the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025, with emphasis on creating durable rural assets.
  • Directions were issued to expedite land acquisition, rehabilitation, forest clearances, and inter-departmental coordination for timely completion of projects.
