NSFDC Credit Schemes Boost Livelihoods: Study

On 13th July 2026, the Government informed that an Impact Evaluation Study found that National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation’s (NSFDC) concessional credit schemes significantly improved entrepreneurship, self-employment and socio-economic conditions of Scheduled Caste beneficiaries.

  • Sustainable Assets: Nearly 93.54% of beneficiaries continued to possess assets created through NSFDC financial assistance.
  • Income Growth: The proportion of beneficiaries earning ₹1.5–3 lakh annually increased from 32.61% to 46.28%, while lower-income households declined significantly.
  • Self-Employment Boost: Self-employment among beneficiaries increased from 46.62% to 73.95%, with major growth in non-agricultural activities.
  • Women Empowerment: About 95.6% of women homemakers receiving assistance became self-employed after availing NSFDC loans.
  • Social Impact: Over 81% of beneficiaries reported improvements in their social and economic status through the credit-based schemes.
