Operation Southern Readiness 26-2

On 20th July 2026, the Indian Navy's Southern Naval Command commenced Operation Southern Readiness 26-2 in Kochi, a four-day multinational maritime security training exercise involving 26 countries.

  • The exercise is being conducted under the Indian Navy-led Combined Task Force 154 (CTF 154) in partnership with the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) and is the first edition of Operation Southern Readiness hosted in India.
  • A total of 254 participants from 26 countries, supported by 74 facilitators, representatives from four international organisations, and subject matter experts, are taking part in the exercise.
  • The programme focuses on capacity building, interoperability, and professional readiness through simulator-based training in ship handling, navigation, maritime distress communication, damage control, firefighting, and maritime security.
