India Officially Maps 27 Places in Arunachal

On 7th August 2026, the Government of India formally identified 27 places in Arunachal Pradesh on the official Survey of India map.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the formal identification of 27 geographical locations, including villages, mountain passes, a lake and memorials, on the official map of Arunachal Pradesh.
The initiative aims to improve public awareness and ensure the standardised use of official Indian names for these locations.
The identified places include Long Ju, one of the earliest India-China border flashpoints in 1959, and Thag La, where one of the opening battles of the 1962 India-China War took place.
Other important locations include Maja village, Bisa village, Dzo La, Riza La, Pukur La, Sambho Sarovar, Jairampur, Jaswant Garh, Sher-e-Thapa Memorial, Kamlang Nagar, and Buddhamandir.
