India Officially Maps 27 Places in Arunachal

On 7th August 2026, the Government of India formally identified 27 places in Arunachal Pradesh on the official Survey of India map.

  • The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the formal identification of 27 geographical locations, including villages, mountain passes, a lake and memorials, on the official map of Arunachal Pradesh.
  • The initiative aims to improve public awareness and ensure the standardised use of official Indian names for these locations.
  • The identified places include Long Ju, one of the earliest India-China border flashpoints in 1959, and Thag La, where one of the opening battles of the 1962 India-China War took place.
  • Other important locations include Maja village, Bisa village, Dzo La, Riza La, Pukur La, Sambho Sarovar, Jairampur, Jaswant Garh, Sher-e-Thapa Memorial, Kamlang Nagar, and Buddhamandir.
