India, China Hold 36th WMCC Meeting on Border Affairs

On 6th August 2026, India and China held the 36th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) on India-China Border Affairs in New Delhi.

Border Situation: Both sides held discussions on the prevailing situation along the LAC and emphasised that maintaining peace and tranquillity is essential for the overall development of bilateral relations.
Communication Mechanisms: The two countries agreed to continue using existing diplomatic and military channels, including the WMCC and local commander-level meetings, to address issues and prevent misunderstandings.
Boundary Discussions: The meeting included detailed exchanges on boundary delimitation, border management, mechanism-building and trans-border cooperation as a follow-up to the 24th Special Representatives (SR) Talks.
