119th Martyrdom Day of Khudiram Bose

On 11th August 2026, the nation paid homage to revolutionary freedom fighter Khudiram Bose on his 119th martyrdom day.

  • Khudiram Bose was one of the youngest revolutionaries of India’s freedom struggle and was executed by the British at the age of 18.
  • In 1908, Khudiram Bose and revolutionary Prafulla Chaki attempted to assassinate British magistrate Douglas Kingsford in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
  • On 30th April 1908, the revolutionaries threw a bomb at a carriage they believed was carrying Kingsford, but two British women were killed in the blast.
  • Prafulla Chaki later died by suicide while evading arrest, while Khudiram Bose was captured and subsequently sentenced to death.
