3rd BIMSTEC Conference on Traditional Medicine in Goa

On September 16, 2026, the 3rd BIMSTEC Conference on Traditional Medicine Knowledge, Genetic Resources, and Intellectual Property Rights commenced in Goa.

Organizers: The two-day conference is being organized by the Ministry of Ayush, with the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, serving as the nodal institute.
Nodal Group Meeting: Alongside the conference, the 2nd meeting of the BIMSTEC Nodal Group on Traditional Medicine Knowledge, Genetic Resources, and Intellectual Property Rights is also being held.
Key Focus: Emphasis was placed on the protection and documentation of traditional knowledge, promoting legitimate research, and ensuring equitable benefit-sharing for communities.
Center of Excellence: During the 6th BIMSTEC Summit held in Bangkok in April 2025, India announced the establishment of the BIMSTEC Center of Excellence in Traditional Medicine.
