32nd World Ozone Day Celebrations Organized in Mumbai

On September 16, 2026, the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change organized the 32nd World Ozone Day celebrations in Mumbai under the theme "Global Action for a Cooler Planet."

  • HCFC Targets: India achieved its designated HCFC phase-out targets for 2015, 2020, and 2025.
  • Kigali Amendment: India ratified the Kigali Amendment in September 2021, which came into effect for India on December 26, 2021.
  • HFC Targets: A schedule has been set for India to reduce HFC production and consumption from baseline levels by 10% in 2032, 20% in 2037, 30% in 2042, and 85% in 2047.
