Rs. 586 Crore Contract Signed for Procurement of Indigenous APUs

On September 21, 2026, the Ministry of Defence signed a contract worth approximately Rs. 586 crore for the procurement of indigenous Auxiliary Power Units (APU) for the Indian Army's T-72 and T-90 Main Battle Tanks. • Role of the APU: The Auxiliary Power Unit provides an alternative source of electrical power for fire control systems, firing circuits, gun stabilization systems, and other auxiliary equipment while reducing reliance on the tank's main engine.
