India Ranks 10th at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026

At the 48th WorldSkills Competition concluded on September 27, 2026, India ranked 10th globally by winning 6 Silver medals and 20 Medallions for Excellence.

Key Facts

Indian Performance: India improved its position from 13th place in the 2024 Lyon edition to 10th place at Shanghai 2026.
Medals: Indian participants won 6 silver medals across Bakery, Dental Prosthetics, Digital Media Design, Industrial Design, Logistics, and Retail Sales.
Largest Contingent: A total of 70 competitors—India's largest contingent to date—participated across 63 skill categories.
Best of Nation: Smriti Nambiar, who won silver in Bakery, received the 'Best of Nation' award for India.
New Categories: India participated for the first time in 11 new and emerging skill categories, including Dental Prosthetics, Retail Sales, and Drone Systems.
Event: Held in Shanghai from September 22–27, the competition featured more than 1,400 young competitors from nearly 70 countries and regions.
