Mountaineer Major HPS Ahluwalia Passes Away

  • Major Hari Pal Singh Ahluwalia, an Indian mountaineer, author, social worker and retired Indian Army officer has passed away on 14 January 2022.
  • During his career he made contributions in the fields of adventure, sports, environment, disability and social work.
  • He is one of six Indian men and the twenty-first man in the world to climb Mount Everest.
  • He has written over 13 books including his autobiography ‘Higher Than Everest’.
  • He was honoured with the country's most prestigious awards - Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and the Arjuna Award. He also received the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award.
